A photograph at dusk of a large old banyan tree with hanging aerial roots and a smoky, hazy atmosphere. In the foreground, a barefoot person in an orange-red top and orange wrap walks past the trunk, with scattered white flower petals or grains on the sandy ground at the base. To the left, several people in white clothing and orange shoulder cloths carry a lit oil lamp and a small brass vessel, appearing to perform a ritual circumambulation or offering near the sacred tree.2007-02-25February 25 20072007-02-25A night-time outdoor scene beneath a large banyan-type tree with hanging aerial roots and a wide trunk. In the foreground a man in white clothes holds a lit oil lamp or torch with an orange cloth. Beside him a man in white dhoti and shirt stands, and a figure in orange-saffron robes with long dark hair, possibly a person given the saffron robes and long swept-back hair, extends an arm toward the trunk. Small white objects, possibly offerings, are stuck to the bark, and a smoky haze fills the dim sandy clearing.2007-02-25A photograph taken at dusk or night of a barefoot figure in orange robes and a rust-red shawl with long dark hair, standing with their back to the camera and embracing or leaning against the massive trunk of a banyan tree with dense hanging aerial roots. Small white flowers lie scattered on the dirt ground at the base of the trunk. A partially visible person in white clothing stands at the far left edge. The figure in orange has long, swept-back hair and a shawl, a person appearance, but the face is not visible. Dim lighting and a sandy clearing surround the tree.2007-02-25February 25th 20072007-02-25Photograph at dusk or night of a large old banyan tree with aerial roots hanging from its branches. In the centre foreground, a figure in an orange robe over a red top raises a lit oil lamp overhead with one hand, flame visible. Dark, dense foliage fills the background.2007-02-25February 25 20072007-02-25February 25th 20072007-02-25December 31 20062006-12-31February 25th 20072007-02-25December 25 20062006-12-25Night photograph, blurred, of an outdoor banyan tree with massive hanging aerial roots and a sprawling low limb. A lit oil lamp or flame burns on a stone platform at the base of the tree. A man in orange saffron robes stands with his back to the camera at the platform, and a blurred figure in white clothing walks at the left edge. Concrete slabs and a dark ground surround the tree; two blue-capped pillars stand at the left. The scene suggests an evening ritual at a sacred tree.2010-12-20
