A photograph of an indoor hall entrance with a wood-panelled doorway decorated with white flower garlands. Above it hang a framed deity image and two framed portraits of older people, one woman in a red sari and one man in white. On the right, a large green poster advertises Ananda Yogam with a smiling man in a white turban and dark robe, captioned with the printed name Paramahamsa Nithyananda and Tamil text. Four men stand near the doorway, one in a white shirt in the foreground, and a fifth man in a checked shirt stands at the poster area. The men are standing around the entrance area while a woman sits at a table on the right.

A woman in white sari sits center stage at a microphone with a small table and papers before her, speaking to an audience seen from behind in the foreground, including men in white shirts and a woman with flowers in her hair. Behind her hangs a large poster of a smiling man with a yellow-orange turban and white shirt, and a framed photo of a man with garland sits on a white-draped stand with flower garlands and brass lamps. A row of lit bulbs forms a canopy above. A yellow banner reads a Tamil and English meditation centre name, and a pink banner reads Ananda Yoga in Tamil. A diagram of chakras and the human energy field stands at left, with framed deity pictures on the wall. The poster's man has a turban and clean-shaven face, but the cues are a turban and white attire, so the depiction is labelled as a probable candidate.2004-03-21A photograph of a devotional gathering in a plain room with pale walls. Framed portraits decorated with fresh garlands hang on the wall, and a central portrait shows a figure seated on an ornate white throne, with a smiling figure in white next to it. Below stands a wooden cabinet holding fruit, flowers, brass vessels and a small metal pot. On the left, a person in white clothing with an orange shawl stands near a stainless steel pot. In the centre, a person in white with a white headpiece leans forward, while an older woman in a white sari with a gold border and an older man in glasses stand nearby. A woman in a gold brocade sari and others in pink, purple and green clothing crowd in, some holding children, with fruit and flowers laid on the floor in front. Green wall posters with Tamil script line the top of the room.Article - November 26 20062006-11-26
