A man in orange robes stands at right on a flower-decorated platform with a colourful striped cloth, holding a lamp and a bell during the ceremony. Below him, a crowd of devotees, many in white and orange, sit and stand in shallow water and along the steps, with hands raised in prayer. Trays of offerings and a brass vessel rest on the water's edge, and rose petals float near the black stone. Red-and-white striped steps rise behind them under an overcast sky with palm trees.2009-07-08A procession walks along a stone-paved temple water-tank edge beside a row of dark black stone shivalinga pillars on the left. In the centre, a man in a dark maroon-red robe with a rudraksha mala and wrist beads walks barefoot, his hands pressed together, with a white forehead mark. Beside him, a man in an orange-red cloth carries a tray with a green garland and flowers. Behind them, a man with a bare chest and red cloth and a long-haired man with white ritual wrap follow, with a drummer in white and orange cloths. Women in white saris with gold borders and some in yellow stand at the left and right edges, hands pressed together in greeting. Many white-clad devotees sit on red-tiered steps in the background. Still green water fills the tank at the right edge.2017-05-22 +1 copies
