Night photo of a Karthikai Deepam lamp ritual outdoors. In the foreground a woman in a dark sari holds up a burning lamp flame in her outstretched hand. Behind her a man in a white dhoti and shawl stands on a tiered stone platform lit by many small oil lamps, raising a torch of fire. Another person in white stands nearby, and a seated figure in white rests at left beside a small lit lamp. A steel vessel sits on the ground at the platform's base, with green plants and a pole in the dark background.
