Night photograph of an illuminated floating barge on a tiered-stepped water tank, lit with warm golden light. A decorated structure with golden canopy and lit sculptural figures sits on the raised platform, with a few dark-clad figures standing on the barge and near the edge, one in white or light clothing at the right. Water spray from a fountain falls at the left; strings of lights hang along the top edge, and red-cushioned seating and steps line the tank.

December 30 20102010-12-30Night photograph of a decorated floating theppam, a golden illuminated boat-like shrine carrying a deity murti, being drawn across dark water in a temple tank. Several people wade or stand in the water beside the boat in light-coloured clothes, some with dark garments. Steps lead up to the right, and a metal railing stands at the left edge with water spray in the foreground.2010-12-30Night photograph of an illuminated floating ceremonial barge on dark water, lit with warm electric lights and decorated with gold trim, red and white accents, and a small arched shrine. A seated figure in a saffron-yellow robe sits centrally on a red-cushioned seat, with a standing figure in a lit niche beside them. Several people wading in the water, in light clothing, attend the barge; one stands at the right edge. Tiered steps and railings line the pool, with string lights strung overhead. The scene suggests a theppam float procession on a temple tank. The seated figure in saffron clothing is a candidate for a person on appearance alone, with only a saffron robe as a cue, so the identity is uncertain.2010-12-30Night photograph of an illuminated ornate float (theppam) gliding across dark water in a stone-stepped tank or reservoir, lit with strings of fairy lights overhead. The float has a lit canopy and a decorated front alcove with a standing deity murti, and a seated figure in saffron-orange robes sits centrally on a red cushioned seat amid flowers and lamps. Several people in light clothing wade or stand in the water beside and behind the float, and empty tiered steps and railings line the background.2010-12-30December 30 20102010-12-30December 30 20102010-12-30December 30 20102010-12-30December 30 20102010-12-30Night-time ritual at a stepped temple tank lit by a bright floodlight, with strings of coloured lights strung across the top. In the foreground a boat carries a deity murti decorated with garlands, draped in flowers, with a golden umbrella overhead; a figure in a saffron-coloured robe and a white-clad attendant stand in the boat, and a man in white holds the boat's rope from the steps. A central pillar with a fountain stands in the water, and a figure lies prostrated on the stone steps in orange cloth. Several people in white clothing and a few in saffron sit or stand along the steps. The scene appears to be a temple tank ceremony with a deity procession by water. The a person field is unsure because the saffron-robed figure's appearance is not distinct enough to confirm.2010-11-23Night photograph of a lit shrine set on a raised platform in the middle of a dark water tank. A decorated arched niche with floral garlands and a lamp-lit display holds a seated figure in orange and gold clothing, flanked by two bright floodlights. Stone steps with railings rise on the right, and a wall of small lamps or pots lines the far side. Water reflects the light. No people are visible.2011-12-10Night photograph of a temple tank with a large black Shivalinga-style lingam at the far end, water cascading from its top and lit from below. Strings of multicoloured lights run along the tank's stepped stone edges. In the foreground, a white-covered boat holds a deity murti decorated with a dense garland of red and yellow flowers, set on a gold-coloured stand with a small flag-like canopy above. Two figures sit in the boat: one in an orange-saffron garment with a white cap, the other in white dhoti and shawl with a smaller seated figure beside them. Other white-clad people stand on the steps.2010-11-23December 30 20102010-12-30
