Night procession photographed from a crowd at ground level. A large illuminated float or ratha is decorated with a rounded arch of garlands in purple, yellow and white, and beneath it a seated figure in saffron-coloured robes sits on a raised dais. Dense crowds of devotees and performers surround the float, many holding red flags and pink, yellow and green umbrellas. Costumed performers in elaborate headdresses, feathered plumes and painted masks, including one with a fiery red face, move through the throng. Strings of coloured lights and shop buildings line the background.
