A photograph of a ritual scene under a thatched roof. A man in a saffron-orange robe with long dark hair sits on a low step, lighting a small fire with a camphor or flame stick while holding a white object. Before him a flame burns on the floor beside bowls of red kumkum powder and yellow turmeric. Around him seated devotees, some bare-chested in white dhotis with sacred threads, watch quietly. A kneeling cameraman in white shoots with a Sony camera, and a woman in a green and gold sari sits near the fire. A homa-style fire ritual is taking place.

He holds a microphone in one hand while extending the other toward a small open flame on the ground, beside a brass stand and small offerings. Nearby sit several bare-chested men in white dhotis with rudraksha malas, one with hands folded, and a woman in a teal and cream sari with gold jewellery and a bun kneels at left, holding a camera. Before him is a brass tray heaped with red kumkum powder, a small oil lamp burns on the floor, and a folded red cloth lies on the stool. Around him sit bare-chested young men in white dhotis wearing sacred threads and rudraksha malas, one with hands folded in prayer. Behind them a crowd of saffron-clad sannyasis and devotees, some wearing rudraksha beads, stands beneath a tiled roof. A woman in a teal blouse and cream sari kneels at left beside a video camera operator. A probable Swamiji figure with distinctive long swept-back hair, rudraksha mala and saffron-toned robe is seated at right performing the ritual. Roughly 20 people are visible.2016-11-11A seated bearded man with long dreadlocked hair, a white tilak on his forehead and a red-orange sannyasi cloth draped over his body, uses a long metal ladle to pour pale pink powder from a silver plate onto the stone floor. A woman in a teal and cream sari with a long beaded necklace kneels beside him, watching closely. Behind them, a group of young men sit on a stone step, some bare-chested in white dhotis with sacred thread, one with an Om symbol painted on his chest. Several more people stand in the background, including figures in saffron and orange clothing, and a small wooden tray with items sits near the plate. The man in red-orange has a distinctive appearance with long swept-back hair and sannyasi robes, but the page only loosely associates a person with this event, so identity is uncertain. A man with long dark hair, beard and a tilak wears a rust-red ochre robe and sits on a low wooden stool, his bare right foot resting on a white powder plate while a woman in a green-and-cream saree kneels and tends bowls of yellow turmeric, red kumkum and white powder. Several shirtless men in white dhotis sit behind them with folded hands, and a cameraman in white clothes films at left.2016-11-11A seated man in a rust-red saffron-toned dhoti and shawl, with long dark hair, a beard, a tilak on his forehead and a red-and-gold thread on his wrist, draws lines with a metal stylus in a shallow brass tray of pink powder on a stone step. A woman in a teal and cream silk sari with gold jewellery and a beaded necklace kneels at left, watching. Behind them, bare-chested men in white dhotis wear rudraksha malas and one has an Om tattoo on his chest, while a row of onlookers in saffron and orange clothing stands and sits in the background. This looks like a ritual drawing with coloured powder, not a confirmed event. A screen-like white panel stands at right. The man with the stylus has long hair, a beard and a red-and-gold shawl, with a visibly distinctive appearance, so he is a person candidate doing this ritual.2016-11-11November 09 20162016-11-09
