Outdoor cremation rite on open grassy ground beside a silver SUV and a parked motorcycle. A long-haired figure in a saffron-orange robe and a beaded necklace pours liquid from a small brass vessel onto a yellow cloth near a bed of grey ash and brick-lined fire pit, with clay pots nearby. Around them, several men in white dhotis and shirts sit on the grass with hands folded, while others stand in lighter clothing, one holding his hands to his face and another in a red shawl. Overcast sky and trees behind.

A man in a cream dhoti and shirt pours water from a brass vessel onto a blackened brick-ringed ash pit in the foreground, water streaming down onto the ashes. Beside him a line of men in white dhotis and shirts stand barefoot; a bearded man in white with a saffron-orange shawl stands second from left among them, but his appearance is not distinctive enough to identify him. A man in white squats at left by a steel vessel and terracotta pots sit at right. Red earth, scattered brick and clay pots complete the scene.2005-11-14November 14 20052005-11-14Outdoor cremation site on bare reddish earth beside a silver SUV.
