Many people are smeared with bright pink, blue, green and purple powder and wear colourful saris and kurtas. Near the centre, a figure in a long saffron-orange robe stands among the crowd with arms extended. Behind them, other people wear white clothes, and a tall wooden pole rises to the right. Parked vehicles and a flag line the background.

Outdoor Holi celebration in a dusty compound with palm trees and a low concrete block wall behind a large crowd. In the foreground, several young men and women are smeared with bright pink, orange, green and blue powder, and one man holds a small bowl of colour. Behind them a dense crowd of onlookers in white shirts, cream kurtas, sarees in pastel, orange and blue, and a few in saffron robes stands watching. No figure is clearly identifiable as a person; the scene shows devotees and participants in general.2008-03-22March 22 20082008-03-22March 22 20082008-03-22A photo of a large outdoor Holi celebration in a palm-lined compound with a low block wall behind. A dense crowd of many people, mostly adults and some children, stands and dances, their white and pale clothes splashed with pink, red, orange and purple powder. A tall wooden pole stands at the centre. A man in a saffron-orange wrap and long swept-back hair stands near the middle, with another man in a dark blue kurta beside him; the orange-robed figure's appearance matches the page's reference to a person, but the match is not certain. Parked vehicles and spectators in white line the back of the courtyard, and a blue sign hangs on a pole at left.2008-03-22Outdoor Holi celebration at an ashram compound with a large crowd of devotees covered in bright blue, purple and pink powder colours.
