Photograph inside a temple sanctum at a Shiva lingam. A long-haired, bare-backed sannyasi in orange cloth kneels at the silver-rimmed yoni-pitha, bending over the lingam, which is decorated with flowers and bilva leaves. A man in white kurta with a yellow tilak on his forehead reaches in to offer kumkum or an offering, and a second person in orange robes sits at the right edge. Behind the sanctum, a deity murti is draped in turquoise silk and garlanded with yellow, white and red flowers, with coconuts and marigold petals on the floor. A brass oil lamp burns on a tray with ritual vessels at the left, indicating abhishekam and puja.

A bare-chested man with long dark swept-back hair, wearing an orange saffron cloth wrap, sits at the silver-railed edge and leans toward the lingam, which is decorated with flower garlands and marigolds on a silver yoni base. Behind him, a second man in white dhoti stands barefoot beside a brass oil lamp with a lit flame on a marble ledge. A hand in a white sleeve reaches in from the right. A silver cobra hood sits beside the base, and marigold petals and flowers are scattered on the floor. The man has distinctive long hair and saffron wrap, consistent with the page's reference to a person; appearance-based identification is probable but not certain.2006-01-05A photograph inside a temple sanctum showing a bare-shouldered figure with long, swept-back black hair and an orange-saffron cloth wrapped at the waist, kneeling and bending over a silver-rimmed shivalinga on a yoni pedestal. The lingam is decorated with marigold flowers, green leaves and a white floral garland, and a small silver cobra hood rises above the sanctum. Another person in white ritual clothing and a gold wristwatch reaches in from the right, while a bare-footed figure in white stands at the back. Orange and yellow flower petals and scattered offerings cover the floor, and a metal railing separates the worshippers from the shrine. This shows abhishekam-style worship of a Shiva lingam, consistent with the Ujjain Mahakaleshwar visit. The long-haired figure in orange is a probable candidate for Swamiji by appearance cues of long hair and saffron clothing.2006-01-05January 05 20062006-01-05A photograph inside a temple shrine at a Shiva linga with a silver cobra hood canopy.
