A hazy outdoor procession moves down a wide dirt road lined with white canvas tents and red-and-white barrier posts, under a smoky winter sky. In the foreground a young woman in a beige jacket and red scarf carries a long white pole with a red flag, and a bearded man in an orange shawl walks beside her. Behind them devotees in orange and red scarves carry white banners and tall decorated poles with coloured tassels, and a man in a yellow knit cap and green jacket walks on the left. Red banners fly along the route.

February 10 20132013-02-10Early morning haze at a dusty Kumbh Mela camp path. Five sadhus in saffron, orange and ochre robes walk toward the camera, several raising long saffron-wrapped staffs or flags overhead. The lead figure on the left wears a yellow-ochre shawl and orange turban, and the figure in the centre wears a grey-brown wrap over orange cloth and an orange turban. White tents and a few distant figures appear through the fog, with strings of pennant bunting across the background. No readable printed name or caption is visible, and no figure can be identified as a person from appearance.February 10 20132013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10February 12 20132013-02-12February 10 20132013-02-10February 10 20132013-02-10A procession on a dusty road at a crowded festival ground, with many people walking in orange and white. In the centre, a bearded man in an orange turban and white T-shirt carries a tall pole topped with a red flag bearing a black bird-like emblem. Behind him, several gold-finialed poles hold ornate umbrellas and a yellow embroidered canopy with red and blue panels. Other marchers wear white kurtas and orange scarves, including a man on the right holding a pole, and a woman in a pink top and purple headscarf smiling beside them. Tents and utility poles line the background under a hazy sky.February 12 20132013-02-12
