Night ritual scene under a white and red striped tent canopy at an outdoor shrine. A long-haired man in a rust-orange garment with a leopard-print headwrap and beaded bracelets sits on an ornate silver throne at left, with a woman in a matching orange outfit and beaded necklace beside him. A third man in white dhoti with a yellow border and long matted hair, bare-chested with rudraksha-style bead bracelets, bends over a black ritual stone with a silver-ornamented base, pouring offerings onto it. Nearby stand a clay Ganesha figure, a turmeric-yellow heap on a wooden block, metal bowls of offerings, garlanded silver stands, a brass oil lamp, and a shrine with deity murtis in the background.

He wears a silver patterned headband and has long dreadlocked hair, and is grinding or mixing in a dark wooden box while reaching toward clay pots of dark liquid and bowls of yellow turmeric powder. Nearby sits a brass figure, a white-flowered plate, and a silver ratha-style shrine with garlands and a silver peacock-like figure. A microphone stand stands beside him. The scene suggests a preparation of herbal remedies rather than a formal puja. The man in the chair is a seated ritual participant, and the attribution is uncertain from appearance alone.2017-09-07 +1 copiesAugust 29 20172017-08-29A seated man with long dark matted hair and a leopard-print cloth wrapped around his head, wearing an orange-red garment and rudraksha bracelets on his upper arm, prepares offerings at a ritual setup. He has yellow turmeric paste on his forehead and is reaching toward a black box topped with yellow powder. Before him are stone mortars and pestles, a bowl of white grains, a tray of yellow paste, and a brass figure. Behind him stands a silver throne-like seat, and on a silver altar sit a small deity murti, white and orange flower garlands and silver vahana figures. A standing attendant in white dress stands at the upper right, and a fire glows at the lower right corner. Ritual medicine or aushadh preparation appears to be underway, but the setting is an outdoor evening puja.2017-09-07 +1 copiesSeptember 02 20172017-09-02September 02 20172017-09-02September 07 20172017-09-07 +1 copiesA photograph of a ritual preparation scene indoors on a concrete floor. A woman at right wears a deep red-brown sari and a beaded necklace and sits kneeling beside him. Before them sits a silver throne-like seat with a silver-framed shrine holding a small deity murti, garlands of orange and brown beads, and small lamps. A large engraved silver vessel stands nearby, and a row of shallow metal bowls holds powdered herbs and pastes in white, yellow, brown, red and black, some still steaming. A red paste fills a box in front of the man, with green leaves and a small clay cup nearby.
