Outdoor ritual at a freshly dug pit of earth during last rites. A bearded man with long matted dreadlocks, wearing an orange fleece jacket and rust-orange cloth, holds a brass plate and pours a stream of yellow turmeric powder into the pit. Behind him a man in an orange robe holds a tall wooden pole topped with a red tasselled canopy. Other men stand with bare torsos, orange dhotis, rudraksha necklaces and white sacred ash, and one wears a white dhoti with a gold border. A woman in a red sari stands with folded hands holding a metal plate. Blue sky and trees stand behind them.
