Outdoor dhwajarohana flag-hoisting at dusk beside a tall copper-coloured temple flagstaff set on an orange stone base, its top wrapped in a bundle of straw and green leaves. A bare-chested man in saffron-orange dhoti and shawl pulls a white rope to raise the flag, his head bowed. Behind him a second man in a yellow-green garment holds the rope. On the right, a man in white dhoti and shawl with gold chain and bead necklace looks upward and is filmed by a camera operator. Yellow and magenta marigold garlands hang on the pillar. Palm trees and a dark evening sky form the background, with two small ceremonial banners at right.

Photo of a dwajarohana flag-hoisting at dusk beside palm trees. A figure in saffron-orange robes with a bare upper back stands at left, holding a tall copper-bronze kalasha-like pillar wrapped in fresh green leaves and a white cord. A woman in a yellow sari with a gold necklace pulls the white cord upward at centre-right. Marigold and garland decorations hang on the pillar's base. A man in white dhoti and shawl with a gold chain stands behind, and ceremonial pennants with embroidered designs stand at right. Small figures sit in the background. The swami figure at left is an unconfirmed candidate whose appearance is not clear enough to identify.2010-12-20November 06 20102010-11-06Outdoor dusk scene beside tall coconut palms: a large copper kalasha-shaped dwajastambha pillar topped with a bundle of straw and green leaves, garlanded with yellow and magenta flower strands and decorated with a relief panel. A bare-chested man in saffron-orange dhoti and shawl stands on the platform, pulling a long white rope that runs up the flagpole for the flag hoisting. Behind him, a man in white dhoti with gold border and a few seated devotees in orange and white watch. Scattered petals lie on the floor, and a faint watermarked name appears in the corner. Presentation and identity are not confidently established, so the figure is described by role as a priest performing dwajarohana.2010-12-20December 23 20082008-12-23December 20 20102010-12-20A night-time dwajarohana, the flag-hoisting ceremony, beside an ornate bronze-coloured kalasha-style stand decorated with yellow and pink flower garlands. A man with a shaved head, white tilak and orange robe with gold border, wearing a beaded necklace, grips a white rope that hauls up a flag bundle decorated with leaves. Beside him a woman in a light green sari with gold jewellery holds a palm-leaf bundle aloft. Mostly obscured onlookers are visible at the bottom right, with one person in white holding a camera. The man's appearance is not sufficiently distinctive to establish a person identification.2010-12-20Night-time outdoor flag hoisting ceremony beside a carved wooden flagstaff wrapped in yellow and magenta flower garlands. A woman in a lime-green sari with a beaded necklace reaches upward, while a shaved-headed priest in saffron-orange robes with gold borders pulls a white rope and holds a garland and small offering. A man in a saffron-orange dhoti and shawl on the left pulls a white rope while a long-haired man in a bare-chested yellow-green dhoti and shawl on the right holds a tall white flag pole upward. A third man in white dhoti with gold trim and a beaded necklace kneels watching on the right, and a couple of onlookers stand behind. Decorated red and gold banners flank the scene and yellow petals lie on the platform. Swamiji is a probable candidate for the long-haired man in yellow-green, identified by his long swept-back hair and ceremonial dress, presented as an in-person figure.2010-12-20November 29 20112011-11-29A standing man in orange saffron robes, with long dark hair and a white and red garland, presses his palms together in prayer beside a large ornate copper kalasha on a tall base decorated with relief carvings. The kalasha is draped with yellow and green marigold garlands and bundles of dried grass, and a kneeling young man in orange robes, wearing a beaded mala, also prays with joined palms. Small white urns with leafy green offerings sit in the foreground, and palm trees stand behind in bright daylight.2008-12-23
