January 01 20072007-01-01A seated audience photographed at an evening programme in a large open hall. Many women and girls in white and off-white traditional dress sit on mats and white plastic chairs in rows. Several wear white saris with gold or coloured borders, some with plaited hair and jasmine flowers, and some wear gold necklaces. One young woman in the foreground wears a white sari and a rosette badge with a green and yellow emblem. Another in the centre wears a teal blouse and a white shawl, with her hands folded in her lap. An older woman in a white sari sits at the right edge. Others wear orange shawls or saffron-coloured garments. Some are smiling and some are looking toward the stage, which is out of frame. Pale cloth and garlanded decorations hang overhead. The people are attentive but none is identifiable as a person in this image.2007-02-15A photograph of a large seated congregation indoors, mostly women in white and cream saris with gold borders, seated on the floor in rows. Several wear rudraksha and bead malas, vibhuti or tilak on their foreheads, and small identification badges on their clothing. The hall has white walls and wooden doors behind them.
