A dense outdoor crowd gathers beneath a long tent roofed with coconut palm fronds and strung with multicoloured bunting. Men in white shirts and dhotis, women in saris and salwar in orange, purple and black, and older women with bindis and gold necklaces stand close together. A man in a cap and a woman in a red blouse are visible in the mass, and several people carry small bags or a child on a hip. A sign in Tamil script hangs on the tent edge. Left foreground shows a woman in a black blouse holding a water bottle. No clearly identifiable a person figure is visible in this view.

Many people sit or stand packed together behind wooden barrier poles, several in white dhotis and shirts, others in colourful saris including yellow, red and green. A man in a white dhoti and shirt stands near the centre, and a woman in a white sari stands at right holding a bundle of green leaves. Children are visible in the front rows. Motorbikes are parked at the right edge. No individual is clearly identifiable as a person.2008-07-28A photograph of a crowd of men queuing outdoors beneath a tented food stall with striped bunting in red, green, yellow, purple and blue. Many men wear white dhotis and white shirts, while others wear checked or striped shirts and trousers. Palm fronds and wooden poles frame the stall, and a Tamil-language sign hangs at the top left. A forested hill rises in the background, and a man in the foreground holds a white plastic bag. No recognisable a person figure is visible, so the scene shows only devotees waiting for annadan-style food distribution.2012-11-27
