Boys practise a physical training exercise in a pink-walled hall with red floor mats. Two boys in the foreground grapple around a vertical wooden pole, one lifting the other's legs while holding it. A boy in a white shirt and navy tracksuit stands on the mats gripping the pole overhead. A boy in an orange top and orange shorts crouches on the mats in the lower left, and a boy in a white vest and black tracksuit stands at the left watching. A framed sepia portrait of a man with hand to chin hangs on the wall above red curtains, labelled with no readable caption. A folded red and orange blanket sits on a table at right.
