Outdoor photo at a large banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots, wrapped at its base by long garlands of yellow, red and green flowers. Three women in white garments stand at the tree: the one on the left wears a yellow shawl and touches the trunk with one hand, the middle woman in a white sari with gold border bends forward with her hand on the bark, and a woman on the right wears a turquoise shawl over white clothes and touches the trunk with her palm. Lush green foliage and a small structure are behind them.2010-08-10Devotees in white ritual clothes gather around a large banyan tree with massive aerial roots and hanging vines. Two garlands of marigolds in yellow, orange and red hang from the trunk. On the left, a man in white dhoti and shirt stands with palms pressed together in namaskar; other white-clad men and women walk or bow nearby. A woman in a white sari with gold border stands with hands folded in prayer at right. A man in a light blue shirt and a man in a grey shirt with orange vest stand in the background. A low stone platform surrounds the tree, with a sign reading Do Not Enter the Cave near a stone bench. Fallen yellow leaves dot the dark granite floor.2010-07-11July 07 20092009-07-07A photograph of a figure in a white and gold-bordered garment leaning forward with their forehead pressed against a large banyan tree trunk in an outdoor setting. The figure has long dark hair, wears a white flower garland with red blossoms, and holds one hand against the bark. Orange marigold garlands are strung across the trunk and branches, with a sandy ground and a low white wall behind. This appears to be a devotional gesture of reverence toward the sacred tree. The person is the only one visible, and the figure's identity is not established by visible evidence alone.2010-01-01A photograph of a large banyan tree with thick, twisting aerial roots, wrapped with garlands of yellow marigold and pink and white flowers hung in swags around its trunk. A single person stands at the base of the tree on a raised white stone platform, wearing a sleeveless red top and an orange-saffron wrap, long dark hair down, barefoot. Loose flowers lie on the platform and ground. Bare earth, a white wall and a metal pole are visible in the background.2009-07-07January 01 20112011-01-01January 01 20062006-01-01Outdoor photo at a large banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots and a dark hollow at its base. Two people stand before it, both in orange-brown and saffron robes. The figure on the left wears a rust-orange turban and white markings on the arms, holding a small offering plate with flowers. The figure on the right, with long dark hair, wears a bright orange robe and stands near draped silk cloths in purple, pink and gold hung along the trunk. A white and yellow flower garland hangs from the roots, and loose flower petals lie on the ground at the base of the tree.A photograph of a large banyan tree with many aerial roots, set on a sandy courtyard with a low white-painted platform around its base. A standing figure in an orange sleeveless top and orange dhoti, with long dark hair, wears a multicoloured flower garland of red, yellow, white and purple blooms and faces the trunk with head bowed. Two similar flower garlands hang from roots at left, and a person in orange clothing is partially visible at the lower left edge, tending offerings. Swamiji (probable): the standing figure has long swept-back hair and saffron ceremonial clothing with a garland, consistent with a sannyasi performing worship at the sacred tree.2009-12-23Outdoor photo at a large banyan tree with many hanging aerial roots and a circular raised stone platform around its trunk. Several devotees in white clothing stand and pray with palms pressed together, including a man in a white shirt and a woman in a white sari near the trunk. Other people are faintly visible in the background among the trees. The person in the foreground wears a cream and gold garment with no visible saffron, crown or mala cues, so no candidate is identified.2009-01-01
