A seated man in rust-red ochre robes and a matching wrap sits behind a fire pit lined with yellow and white rangoli-style borders, with flames rising from the bricks. He wears a tall dark turban with a crescent ornament, a rudraksha mala draped across his chest, bead bracelets, a gold chain and a red-and-white tilak, and holds a small pestle over a stone mortar. Trays of green herbs, a brass bowl of yellow powder, a woven basket and a silver-covered shrine with flower garlands and a small deity figure surround him on striped cloth. The setting is an outdoor night ceremony beside a pillared building, consistent with an aushadha or homa preparation. A probable Swamiji is seated at the centre, identified by the crescent turban ornament, rudraksha malas and ceremonial gold chain while performing the herb-preparation ritual.
