A red flower is tied near the top and a multicoloured cloth hangs behind it. No people are visible in the scene.2022-02-07Two sannyasis in saffron-orange robes hold up a large saffron flag with a gold fringe, bearing a painted image of a seated figure with a mala and raised hands, with a small blue emblem at top. The flag is being raised at night beside a carved metal pillar or structure. The figure on the flag is a depiction, not a physical person present. No one in the scene is clearly identifiable as a person by appearance; the two physical people are shown in saffron robes, one on each side of the flag.2008-03-26June 07 20112011-06-07KAILASA LOS ANGELES, USA on 2/6/20222022-02-06A photograph of a ceremonial setup in an indoor hall with a dark backdrop. On the left hangs a tall saffron-orange silk banner painted with white line drawings of a standing deity holding a trident and other ritual objects, and a stylized shape of a shrine or kalasha. Behind it stands an ornate gold-covered palanquin or ratha-style pedestal decorated with red and orange flower garlands, holding a central deity murti. In front, on a black marble table, sits a black stone Nandi-like figure draped with a white and purple garland, reflected in the glossy surface. The flag bears an embroidered deity murti standing on a golden lotus base, blue-skinned with a crown. A person in long swept-back dark hair and orange saffron robes stands at right, holding the flag's garland with both hands. A second person in orange clothing stands at left. A folded red cloth and rope lie on the platform in the foreground, with a grey overcast sky behind. This matches a flag hoisting ceremony. The right figure shows long hair and saffron robes, which are plausible cues, but the face and overall appearance are not distinctive enough to confirm identity.2008-03-23KAILASA SAN JOSE, USA on 3/7/20212021-03-07At night, three men in saffron and orange robes hoist a large red-orange flag on a pole. The flag carries a painted deity figure seated on a rock with a kamandalu-like vessel and a small attendant figure at its base, plus a blue and white bird emblem at the top edge. On the left, a bald man in orange wrap looks upward, while a man in white dhoti with an orange shawl and rudraksha mala holds the lower flag fabric. The man on the right, bald with an orange robe and red border, raises both arms to fasten the flag. Small dark heads of onlookers appear at the bottom edge. This is a flag hoisting for a Gurupurnima celebration, as the page describes.2008-03-26January 05 20172017-01-05A person in saffron-orange robes and a matching orange head wrap stands barefoot on a dark stage, arms raised with palms pressed together in a devotional gesture.
