February 24 20072007-02-24Photograph of a ceremonial initiation in an indoor hall with red-and-gold decor. A long-haired figure in a saffron-orange robe sits on an ornate gold throne with a red cushion, placing a hand on the head of a shaved-headed young person in white who kneels with palms joined. Around them, shaved-headed men in white robes and orange shawls sit on the floor, some holding staffs, with brass lamps and woven baskets of offerings in the foreground. A standing attendant in orange and white holds a staff at left, and a seated attendant in an orange shawl sits at right. A ceiling fan and a green-and-white garland on the throne are visible. The figure in orange has distinctive long swept-back hair and saffron clothing, but appearance alone is not decisive for identity.2007-02-24February 24 20072007-02-24 +1 copiesEvening scene in a hall with a dark backdrop. A figure in an orange saffron robe with long dark hair sits on a white-cushioned seat on a raised platform, placing a hand on the head of a kneeling man in white clothes. Behind them, a standing man in white with an orange shawl and two other standing men in white with orange shawls watch; a woman in a sari stands at the right edge. On the left, a seated man observes beside a table with a tray, a basket of fruit, flower garlands and a walking stick. Behind, a figure in orange robes and a rudraksha mala sits on an ornate golden throne with red cushions, and a fan and colourful hanging fabric decorate the stage. The scene suggests a blessing or initiation with a seated guru figure present.2007-02-11February 24 20072007-02-24February 24 20072007-02-24February 24 20072007-02-24February 24 20072007-02-24February 24 20072007-02-24February 24 20072007-02-24A photograph of a ceremony on a stage with a dark curtain backdrop. In the foreground, a long-haired figure in orange robes sits on a white-covered seat with white and red flower garlands and fruit on the table, placing a hand on the forehead of a kneeling man in white clothing and a rudraksha mala. Standing nearby are a bald man in white with an orange shawl, a young man in white with an orange shawl, a woman in a yellow sari, and other onlookers. On a golden throne at the upper left sits another figure in orange robes with a rudraksha mala, one hand raised. Probable Swamiji cues: long swept-back hair, orange robes and rudraksha mala on the seated figure in the foreground. The scene appears to be a blessing or temple-style ritual. A kalasha-like object and a fan are visible.2007-02-11A photograph of a stage ceremony. A figure in orange robes with long, swept-back dark hair, wearing a rudraksha mala and a gold necklace, sits on a red-cushioned gold throne and rests both hands on the head of a kneeling devotee in white kurta clothing with palms pressed together. A second person in orange robes kneels at the lower right, and a gold ornate backdrop with garlands of yellow, red and purple flowers surrounds the throne. Marigold petals lie on the stage floor and a small brass vessel sits at the bottom edge. The orange-robed figure on the throne fits the Swamiji (probable) cues of long hair, orange clothing, rudraksha mala and gold ornament, shown here in a blessing gesture.2008-12-25
