Night-time photograph of a fire-walking ritual. A man in a white shirt and white dhoti walks barefoot across a long pit of glowing embers, hands pressed together in prayer. Devotees in white clothes line both sides of the pit, many holding up cameras or phones. Bamboo poles act as barriers, and a lit kalasha or ritual structure appears in the background, with a white canopy above the crowd.

A long rectangular pit of glowing grey embers runs down the centre, and a barefoot man in white dhoti and shirt with an orange-saffron cloth draped over his shoulders walks across it. Around the pit, rows of devotees dressed in white stand behind long bamboo poles held horizontally to form lanes. Women in saris and salwar, including one in pink and one in green, stand among the crowd with hands joined in prayer. A man in a white shirt and dhoti stands in the foreground watching, and a blue bucket sits at the lower left edge.2006-12-30
