A photograph of abhishekam at an outdoor shrine. A bare-chested priest in an orange cloth wrap stands at left, long dark hair falling down his back, pouring water over a dark stone lingam set before a pair of gilded deity murtis. The central murti wears a crown and jewelled necklaces and holds a golden trident; the right figure wears a green and red sari with silver jewellery. A silver arch frames a small silver figure at lower right, and a golden kalasha-like vessel sits in the foreground. Water splashes around the black stone pedestal and yellow tiled floor. Only the priest is a physical person; the other figures are statues. No appearance-based a person identification is made from the priest, who is shown from behind.2007-02-23A bare-chested man with long dark hair wears an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl as he pours water from a golden vessel onto a black stone abhishekam platform. Behind him, gold-faced deity murti of a seated Shiva-form figure with a trident and a seated goddess in a green and red sari with jewelled ornaments receive the water, which cascades down the tiered stone base. A second man in orange robes stands at left holding a metal pot, and a gold kalasha sits at lower right in an open-air pavilion with trees behind.2007-02-23February 23 20072007-02-23A man with long dark hair, bare-chested and wearing an orange-saffron dhoti, stands with his back to the camera and pours or smears white material over a white Shivalinga on a dark stone pitha. Behind him, two gilded deity murtis of a male and female couple sit in a pavilion, the male holding a trident and staff and both adorned with heavy jewelled necklaces and crowns; the female wears a green and red silk sari. Carved stone pillars and trees frame the open shrine. Gold kalasha-style objects and a silver ornament appear at the lower right. The man's presentation shows long hair and saffron clothing, but his face is not visible and his identity cannot be confirmed from appearance, so he is described by role as a devotee performing abhishekam.2007-02-23February 23 20072007-02-23A photograph of an abhishekam being performed before a pair of large deity murtis in an open-sided stone shrine. A bare-backed man in a saffron-orange dhoti pours water over the base of the murti group from a vessel, while a second man in orange clothing stands at left holding a brass pot. Water streams over the platform and a silver-coloured utsava murti with a crown sits in front. A third person in orange appears at far right. The main murtis wear crowns, jewelled necklaces and green-and-red silk garments. A brass kalasha or lamp stand and a silver shrine stand on the platform. The people are standing close to the deities.2007-02-23February 23 20072007-02-23February 23 20072007-02-23A photograph inside a stone-pillared temple hall at night, with a wet stone floor. A bare-chested man with long swept-back dark hair and an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl stands at left, facing right and holding a small silver vessel and a ritual item. Centre right is a pair of seated gilded murti of Shiva and Parvati, adorned with red and yellow flower garlands and a white garland on a dark stone pitha base. The Shiva figure wears a crown, white cloth and a red headband; Parvati wears a red and green sari. A second person in orange stands partially visible at far left, holding a small vessel. The scene suggests a puja at the murti; the pillar and ceiling are grey stone.2007-02-16A temple abhishekam at a stone shrine open to the sky under a pillared roof. A man with long dark hair, bare-chested and wearing an orange-saffron dhoti and shawl, pours water from a brass vessel over a large dark stone shivalingam on a wide yoni-shaped base. Two other men in orange-saffron cloth stand behind him beside the lingam. To the right, a large bronze deity murti in a teal and red-trimmed silk garment, with a gold crown and a trident-like staff, sits on a stepped plinth. Brass oil lamps and brass pots rest on the wet stone floor, and water spreads across the platform.2007-02-23A photograph of a temple ritual under a stone pavilion. A man with long dark hair, bare-chested and wearing an orange cloth with a red-bordered wrap, pours water from a brass vessel over a man lying prone on the stone floor, also in orange robes. Two other men in orange cloths stand to the left, one with a shaved head. Behind them is a black stone shivalingam on a yoni pedestal, with a white-and-gold deity figure with a crown and a female figure in a green and red sari with gold border as statues. Brass pots and a gold miniature shrine sit at the right and lower left. This appears to be an abhishekam-style water rite for a devotee in orange robes.2007-02-23A photograph of an outdoor temple shrine with a dark stone Shivalinga on a water-channelled stone base, before a golden seated deity murti with a trident and a golden staff, beside a golden murti of a goddess in a green and red sari with jewelled necklaces. A man in an orange shawl and saffron dhoti stands at the left, his long hair swept back, while a devotee in white dhoti lies prostrate in full padapuja before the lingam, bare feet visible. Water flows over the lingam; brass vessels stand at the lower left and a small gold kalasha-like object sits at the right. Another man in orange stands at the far left edge. The orange-clad standing figure shows distinctive long hair and orange robes, but no clear face-independent cues beyond clothing, so identity remains uncertain.2007-02-23
