November 12 20162016-11-12A nighttime procession at an outdoor temple setting with banana leaves and a golden structure at the right edge. A bearded man in a maroon-brown dhoti and shawl, wearing a long white and multicolour flower garland, dark rudraksha malas and a gold necklace, walks at the front holding a silver staff beneath a fringed canopy. Behind him, men in saffron-orange dhotis and shawls walk with clasped hands and folded palms; one man in a maroon garment holds a microphone. A bare-chested man in orange carries a golden cloth bundle wrapped with pink flower garlands, and a figure with white markings on the arms walks nearby. Several onlookers and devotees stand behind in the background, with a red carpet-like mat on the ground.2017-10-19Night procession on a paved courtyard in front of orange-brown ashram buildings. At centre, a bearded man with long dark hair and a white forehead band wears a maroon-brown robe, a pink-and-white flower garland, a heavy gold pendant necklace and a brown rudraksha-style mala, and holds a tall gold-and-silver staff. Flanking him, two attendants carry silver staffs topped with ornate finials; the attendant on the right wears an orange cloth and gold chain. A bare-chested attendant on the left wears white with a brown mala, and people in white and orange robes follow behind. A green shrub and a window appear at upper right.2017-02-09October 19 20172017-10-19A nighttime procession in a courtyard lit by warm light, with a salmon-coloured building and green foliage behind. In the centre, a bearded man with long dark hair and a white forehead mark wears a maroon robe, a pink-and-white flower garland, a brown rudraksha-style mala and a large gold pendant. He raises a long golden staff topped with a silver ornamental finial. To his right, a man in white dhoti and brown shawl with a rudraksha mala and white forehead marks smiles, holding a silver staff. Behind him, a younger man in saffron-orange cloth holds a silver staff, and another figure in orange, bare-chested and marked with white ash, walks beside him. Several more people stand in the background, including a shirtless man with white ash marks on his arms. The Swamiji candidate has long hair, a maroon robe and ceremonial gold pendant, consistent with a probable identification of Swamiji (probable) leading the procession as a sannyasi.2017-02-09October 19 20172017-10-19February 09 20172017-02-09Outdoor procession with a smiling man at the centre wearing a rust-red robe, long rudraksha mala necklaces and a thick garland of yellow marigolds, white and pink flowers and green leaves. He has white vertical forehead markings and a red dot, and long dark hair. Around him stand young men in orange-saffron robes with white forehead paste and beaded necklaces; one holds a tall golden staff topped by a red canopy. Yellow flowering shrubs and a pink wall form the background.2018-01-15 +1 copiesNovember 12 20162016-11-12Night procession with a central figure in a maroon robe and a long multicoloured garland of white, red and purple flowers, carrying a silver trident-like staff. He wears a gold crown-style headpiece, a gold pendant and a dark rudraksha mala, and smiles toward the camera. Behind him, a man in a saffron-and-gold robe with a rudraksha mala holds a staff, and another shaven-headed man in a maroon robe with a gold border and black beads walks beside him. Behind them, ornate golden deity figures and decorated palanquin or chariot elements glow with lights, with orange-clad marchers and yellow poles bearing triangular banners with a dove emblem on both sides.2016-01-24Night procession in a courtyard with orange-walled buildings and a tree at right. A central man in a maroon-brown robe, a long brown rudraksha-style mala, a gold ornate pendant and a pink-and-white flower garland holds a silver ceremonial staff with a decorative finial; his long dark hair is swept back and he wears a white forehead mark and a full beard. Flanking him, a man in white dhoti with brown beaded necklace and a second man in saffron-orange cloth hold tall silver-tipped staffs, and a bare-chested attendant in orange dhoti raises a gold pole. Spectators stand in the background and at lower left. Details suggest a ritual procession, possibly for a Thaipusam-related event.2017-02-09December 02 20172017-12-02
