A tug-of-war contest on an open dry ground in an ashram setting, with a reddish earth embankment and trees behind. Several men in white dhotis and white shirts pull a thick yellow-brown rope, most leaning back with feet planted. A man in an orange kurta and white dhoti stands at the left edge near the rope. A bald man with a face painted in green and yellow stands in the centre-right, and a bald man in a sleeveless white top with a yellow waist cloth pulls in the foreground. A man in a light-pink shirt with a lanyard stands at the far left edge, and a man in white pulls at the far right, pointing with his arm outstretched. Several pairs of sandals lie on the ground.
