A photograph of a night ritual inside a temple hall with orange-red marigold garlands hanging from the ceiling and a red and orange flag at right. A bare-chested elderly priest in grey dhoti holds a lit camphor flame toward a seated figure, while a woman in a red-and-gold sari and other men in white dhotis stand with palms pressed together in prayer. In the foreground a large silver vessel and small brass lamps sit on a cloth, and a bright fire blazes at right. A seated figure wears saffron-orange cloth, a gold necklace and a rudraksha mala, with a headband, and is being offered the flame. Ritual aarti in progress.

June 05 20122012-06-05Night photograph of a temple-style ritual at a table draped with a gold-embroidered cloth. A large flame rises from a metal plate of flowers and offerings on the right. A bare-chested elderly priest in white dhoti and a rudraksha mala leans in with a lit oil lamp, while a younger man in orange dhoti with a rudraksha mala and a gold necklace stands beside a silver kalasha. Other priests in white dhotis and a man with a headband stand behind, and a few hands and a partial figure appear at the lower edge. Marigold garlands and petals decorate the scene, with a yellow-and-orange draped canopy above. This appears to be a fire ritual such as a homa or aarti.2012-06-05June 05 20122012-06-05June 05 20122012-06-05A dim stone-walled interior where a ritual is in progress around a brass oil lamp with a large, bright flame held by a bare-chested man in the lower right, wearing an orange cloth over his shoulder. Behind him, a priest in orange robes and a rudraksha mala stands with hands folded. In the centre, a young man in an orange dhoti and yellow-trimmed shawl, with a white tripundra on his forehead, a white cross-shaped mark on his chest, a beaded garland and a gold pendant, gazes down as an elderly man in a green shimmering shawl and beaded headband reaches toward the flame with his palms. Smoky light and a faint wall-mounted image complete the scene.2012-05-18 +1 copiesJune 05 20122012-06-05September 16 20152015-09-16 +1 copiesA pada puja ritual in progress indoors. Several devotees in white, some with gold chains and rudraksha malas, sit around; a man on the left raises a multi-branched aarti lamp with flame, a woman on the left holds her hands in anjali, and a woman in white with a red bindi holds her palms together. Trays hold apples, flowers and brass vessels, and an orange-draped throne with gold trim stands at right beside a table of fruit and flowers.
