A photograph of a sadhu seated low on a stone or brick ledge in an open-sided shed with a corrugated roof, sunlight blazing through the opening behind him. He wears white dhoti-style cloth with an orange-and-gold border, bare upper body with dark bead bracelets on his wrists and a rudraksha mala, and his head and face are partly turned toward a large terracotta pot with steam rising from it over a small fire. Dust-covered ground and blurred cattle are visible in the background. Whether this is a person is uncertain from appearance; the figure is described by role as a priest tending the pot.2019-01-16January 16 20192019-01-16A photograph of a Pongal cooking scene outdoors in bright sunlight. In the centre, a bare-chested man with hair knotted on top wears a white dhoti with gold borders and a rudraksha mala across his chest, holding a ritual implement toward a flame. Fire pits burn in the foreground and middle, with marigold-style flowers and offerings beside them. Other participants sit or stand around the fire, including a man in orange cloth on the left and a bald man in an ochre garment on the right. The setting appears to be a homa or yagna.2018-01-05January 16 20192019-01-16
