Many devotees in white and saffron-orange clothing walk in the road, several carrying large ornate umbrellas in red, blue, green, pink and yellow with fringed edges. Red flags on poles rise above the crowd, and a decorated vehicle and a red-and-white van move through the procession. Uniformed police officers line the route and walk alongside, while onlookers fill the pavements and balconies. A decorated palanquin or float is visible at the head of the procession near the top of the street.
