March 08 20052005-03-08Night-time abhishekam at an outdoor shrine under dark trees. A figure with long dark hair and an orange robe stands at right, arm raised high, pouring water from a netted metal vessel over a dark stone deity murti of a seated figure, which is draped with a white cloth and crowned with a silver-toned headdress. The murti is framed by a large arch of garlands in pink, white, red, yellow and green, and is surrounded by marigold and jasmine garlands. To the left, two men in white dhotis and orange shawls stand beside a brass pot of offerings, and a few onlookers in shirts and dhotis watch from the background. Red flower petals cover the base of the murti.2007-01-01March 08 20052005-03-08January 01 20072007-01-01 +1 copiesMarch 08 20052005-03-08March 08 20052005-03-08February 18 20042004-02-18March 08 20052005-03-08Night-time photo of a devotee in an orange saffron wrap, with long dark swept-back hair and a red tilak, standing beside a large banyan tree with thick aerial roots, smiling. In front of him an elderly bearded man in a white kurta and white dhoti holds a metal pot with a garland of yellow and red flowers draped over his shoulder, looking up toward the tree. Other men and a woman in white stand behind them; a gold-framed arch with colourful flower garlands is visible at right. A man with long, swept-back dark hair and a beard, wearing a flowing saffron-orange robe and a rudraksha mala, leans forward and touches the lingam with both hands. Behind him, a second man in orange robes with long curly hair stands at the edge of the frame. Brass oil lamps stand beside the lingam, and the floor is covered in pale yellow liquid, scattered petals and rice-like offerings. To the right, a large deity figure is draped in red and gold silk and decorated with bright marigold and multicoloured flower garlands. A white marble figure and a small gilded statue stand at left. Several other seated devotees in white are partly visible in the background.2010-02-12
