A tall, heavily decorated chariot dominates the frame, its tiers draped with multicoloured fabric in red, pink, blue and yellow, with garlands hanging from a golden finial and a carved wooden base. A second decorated chariot stands further right. A large crowd of devotees fills the street, mostly in white, orange and yellow saris and shirts, many raising mobile phones to film. Low buildings, a domed shrine at left and a signboard at right frame the scene.2022-12-03December 29 20092009-12-29A nighttime outdoor procession on a dirt path. In the foreground, a flatbed cart carries a colourfully decorated canopy with a tiered red, yellow and blue pavilion hung with tassels and a garland. Two seated men in white ritual dhotis, one bare-chested, sit on the cart beside a green coconut and offerings; one holds a small object. Behind them, a gold-framed palanquin glows with lamplight, enclosing a lit deity murti. Devotees in white and saffron walk alongside, and marigolds line the path.2011-10-06
