An elderly man with white hair and a white beard, wearing a white garment with a saffron-orange border and a green leaf garland, sits cross-legged with hands folded. Beside him a bearded older man, bare-chested with a white cloth and beaded necklaces, sits near a microphone. A standing bare-chested man with a white cloth and sacred thread holds a bundle. An older woman in a white sari with blue border and red bindi stands next to him, and a kneeling man in white shirt and trousers joins palms in greeting. Seated devotees in pink, blue and dark clothing fill the background, including a young boy in a teal shirt, and a metal grille stands at right.A photograph of a домашний devotional gathering inside a plain room with pale walls and a tiled floor. Many people sit closely together on a pink cloth, mostly women in colourful saris and a few men in white shirts and dhotis. In the foreground, a woman in a white and blue sari sits beside brass plates of bananas, oranges, coconut and flower offerings. A young girl in an orange dress sits in front of the offerings. No candidate for a person is visibly present, so the scene is a community puja with devotees.2007-10-01A photograph of a seated ritual gathering in a plain, dimly lit room with a white wall and a pale ceiling light. In the foreground a small wooden table holds a laptop, with cables running across a red-and-white circular floor marking. Behind stacks of wrapped boxes and offering trays, a bare-chested young priest with a rudraksha mala and a white cloth sits beside a woman in a white sari. Two older men in white shirts and dhotis sit at the back, and several people in colourful saris and checked lungis sit in a semicircle on the right, watching the proceedings. The setting suggests a homa or puja broadcast to remote participants.2019-07-06 +1 copies
