A seated man in red-maroon robes with a red and orange flower garland and a long gold-bead necklace reaches out to touch the head of a devotee. The seated man has long hair tied back and wears gold earrings, with a silver staff and a throne-like seat behind him draped in red fabric with a floral arch. A bald priest in orange-saffron robes and rudraksha beads stands at left, assisting; a devotee with a white cloth over the eyes kneels in front, and a woman in white with a white eye-cloth stands with hands folded in the background. Brass ritual lamps, a kalasha-style set and a colourful canopy frame the scene. A man with long dark swept-back hair and a flowing saffron-orange shawl leans forward and presses his right palm on the head of a seated man bowed forward. The seated man wears a red-orange garland of flowers with yellow blooms, a gold chain, and a maroon-brown dhoti with an orange border, and holds a small orange offering or cloth in his hands. Another person in orange stands behind, partly cropped. Striped textiles and gold-trimmed fabric line the foreground.
