Year 1997 His Divine Holiness At Age 19Year 1997 His Divine Holiness At Age 19Vintage colour photograph of a shaven-headed young man in saffron-orange robes seated in a wooden cane-backed armchair, head bowed as a woman in a red and multicoloured sari kneels at his feet, with a flower visible near her hair. A second saffron-robed monk stands behind on the right, smiling and touching his chin, and a white-clad man sits at the far left edge. Pale blue wall and a white panel fill the background. The ritual appears to be padapuja, the washing of feet, though the exact act is not fully visible.1997 - Photographs from Trip to Tiruvannamalai Organized by SPHOld color photograph of a room with pale turquoise walls and a red floor. Several men in peach or cream ochre robes sit on metal-framed chairs with their eyes closed. Their feet are bare and being washed by a woman in a red blouse and patterned sari who kneels with her head bowed beside a white bucket striped with red. Another man in the center presses his palms together in namaskar. Two young men in white clothing sit on a bench in the background, and a small radio sits on a shelf. The scene depicts a paada puja, a ritual washing of the feet of the seated men.A seated man in saffron-orange robes with a long rudraksha mala and long swept-back hair sits smiling on an ornate orange upholstered throne-like chair, his bare feet being touched by a man in a white shirt and jeans who bends forward at the front. Behind the throne stands a second man in orange robes with a wristwatch, and a red velvet curtain forms the backdrop. A small side table holds a tray with apples, flower petals and a water bottle, and a microphone stand is at the right edge. Swamiji (probable): the seated figure's long hair, saffron robes and rudraksha mala match the appearance cues, and the scene shows a devotee performing padapuja.2010-09-08Indoor photograph in a wood-panelled room with a wooden cabinet and a mirror on the left. A man with long dark swept-back hair, wearing an orange saffron robe and a long ceremonial gold-coloured necklace, sits in a wooden armchair with a white cloth draped over it, hands resting on the armrests, while a plate of white flowers and rose petals lies on the floor before his bare feet. Seated on the floor nearby, a woman in a gold sari with a red blouse folds her hands in namaskar, and a man in white clothes sits beside her. Other women in yellow, blue and pink saris sit or stand behind them, and a man in an orange robe with a rudraksha mala kneels at lower right. A yellow-and-white decorated item sits at the left edge. Probable Swamiji in an orange robe with long hair and a gold necklace, seated in a chair as devotees offer padapuja.2008-10-15A seated woman in an orange robe and orange shawl sits on a red-and-white cushioned seat set on a mat, smiling and raising one hand in greeting. A man in white kneels on a blue mat at her feet, bowing toward her bare feet. Behind them stand several people: a man in a grey shirt with palms pressed together, a bearded man in white with an orange shawl, and a man in orange holding a camera. A woman in a pink sari and a woman in a purple top stand at left, and a child in white is at the lower left.
