April 06 20202020-04-06April 06 20202020-04-06Abhishekam being performed on three metal murti figures: a central standing deity with a tall crown, four arms holding a spear, trident and other implements, with a small animal figure at his feet, flanked by two female figures in dark red-maroon sarees with garlands and pendant necklaces. A hand from the upper left pours a white liquid from a conch-shaped vessel over the central figure, and the murtis are coated with milky offering residue. In the background a white seated figure in orange-saffron robes and rudraksha mala sits before a garlanded altar with flowers and a lamp.2010-11-12Close photo of a gilded bronze deity murti of Murugan with a tall crown, holding a spear and a rooster-topped flag, flanked by two smaller gold figures in maroon garments with gold necklaces. A hand in a gold bangle is raised at the left edge. Behind is a blurred seated figure in orange robes with flower garlands, red cloth and marigold decorations.2010-11-12November 12 20102010-11-12November 12 20102010-11-12April 06 20202020-04-06A golden deity murti with a tall crown, four arms holding a spear-like staff, a mace-like club and a raised trident-like emblem, being bathed in a liquid poured from a white cloth or conch-shaped vessel held by a hand at top left. Two smaller golden attendant figures flank it, wearing crowns, maroon garments and gold pendant necklaces, also glistening with the pouring liquid. The stone platform behind is grey and carved, with orange and red offerings blurred at the top. This appears to be an abhishekam being performed on the murti. No people are physically identifiable as a person; the only human element is the hand pouring.2010-11-12November 12 20102010-11-12April 06 20202020-04-06Photograph of an abhishekam in progress. Two brass or bronze deity murtis stand on a stone base: a taller Murugan-style figure with a crown, spear (vel) and peacock-feather motif, and a smaller female figure in a maroon sari with a pendant, both drenched in a liquid poured from a golden kalasha held by a person's hands at the top left. Yellow flowers rest at their feet. A carved grey stone wall with floral relief forms the background, and red fabric appears at the top.2010-11-12A golden bronze murti of Murugan standing centrally on a lotus pedestal, holding a spear-like vel in one hand and a flag-like banner in another, with a peacock-like carved figure beside him. Flanking him are two smaller golden figures in maroon garments with gold pendant necklaces. A hand in a gold-coloured vessel pours a stream of yellow liquid. A blurred orange-robed figure sits in the background among garlands and red flowers.2010-11-12
