A tall copper-plated ceremonial flagstaff (dhvajastambha) rises against a clear blue sky, its top capped with an ornate orange-red finial, at a Brahmotsava flag-hoisting. At its base stands a carved stone pedestal decorated with yellow and orange marigold garlands and small potted plants. A man in orange robes with long dark hair stands with palms joined in namaskar beside the pole, with a white garland around his neck. Two more people in orange robes stand nearby, one holding a red umbrella with fringe, and a few more attendees are in the crowd at the lower left and right. Partial signage on a white building reads 'आनंदेश्वर मंदिर' (Anandeshwar Mandir), and small red flags are visible in the background.2008-12-23December 23 20082008-12-23March 05 20112011-03-05 +1 copiesDecember 23 20082008-12-23Outdoor photograph of a tall copper flagstaff (dhvaja stambha) rising against a clear blue sky, its top crowned with a carved ornamental finial and ropes running up beside it. The flagstaff stands on a large ornate copper base decorated with yellow and red marigold garlands and straw bundles. In the lower left, a figure in long-haired, flowing orange robes stands near the ropes, apparently hauling or guiding the flag-hoisting, with a person in orange beside a brass lamp and devotees and onlookers at the bottom edge. A striped canopy and a 'Nithyanandeshwara Temple' sign sit at left and palm trees appear at right. The figure's face is not visible; his appearance does not clearly support identifying him as a person.2008-12-23A tall copper flagstaff with a decorative finial and red cloth at its top rises against a blue sky beneath a corrugated metal canopy. At its base, a standing figure in long flowing orange robes with long dark hair holds a lamp or offering toward the pole, beside a yellow wooden support. Marigold garlands drape the copper base on a red-orange raised platform. Behind, a person in white dhoti stands near the pole, and a cameraman films at the lower left. Palm trees and foliage frame the scene, and onlookers in white gather at the lower right.2010-09-02A tall copper flagstaff, wrapped in bands and topped with a carved finial, rises against a clear blue sky beside a stone base decorated with marigold garlands and potted plants.
