March 16 20172017-03-16A photograph of an outdoor homa or puja ceremony on striped woven mats. Priests in white dhotis with yellow borders attend a deity murti decorated with marigold garlands. A priest in a yellow-and-orange headband pours from a small vessel near a fire pit with burning wood, and an attendant in a white dhoti stands beside the offering trays. Brass plates hold flowers, bananas, apples and lamps, and potted plants sit at the left. A seated figure in an ornate gold throne wears a saffron robe, a gold necklace and a rudraksha mala, with attendants and a gold parasol behind him. Presentation is appearance-based and uncertain.2017-03-16April 14 20182018-04-14A photograph inside a temple hall with yellow-painted pillars. In the foreground a woman in a green and purple silk sari with gold bangles and flowers in her hair kneels beside a dark stone shivalinga, pouring or scattering grains over it. A bald man with white tilak marks, wearing a white dhoti and holding a rudraksha mala, leans in beside her and reaches over the offering. Behind them an older man in white dhoti and orange cloth stands with a mala, and a yellow chariot-like wooden box sits to the right. Marigold garlands rest on the linga, with baskets of flowers and grains on a wooden stool and colourful striped mats on the floor. This appears to be an abhishekam offering.2020-01-29March 02 20182018-03-02Photo 11728727 +2 copiesApril 06 20172017-04-06October 23 20152015-10-23A temple ritual photo showing a priest in a white dhoti with a colourful striped waist cloth and a pink-and-purple turban, bare-chested, sprinkling water with a bundle of green leaves over a Shiva linga decorated with pink lotus garlands and yellow marigold strands. A large brass vessel filled with water, yellow flowers and red petals sits in the foreground. Two more priests stand behind: one in a white dhoti with a gold necklace and a metal pot, the other in a yellow-orange shawl with a gold chain, both with white vibhuti on their foreheads. Red cloth hangs in the background and red ritual floor covering is scattered with petals. This appears to be abhishekam being performed at a shrine.2018-01-31March 16 20172017-03-16April 29 20182018-04-29December 05 20162016-12-05
