A long-haired figure in a saffron-orange garment and a heavy gold bead necklace stands barefoot beside a brick-lined fire pit of grey ash, pouring liquid from a small vessel. Around the pit lie rows of terracotta pots. Behind, a dozen men sit or stand in white dhotis and shirts, one in a pink shirt seated, another in a red shawl, with a silver SUV parked nearby under an overcast sky.2005-11-14July 29 20082008-07-29Outdoor ceremony on reddish-brown earth strewn with yellow and orange flower petals. A white-clad man in glasses pours water from a clay pot onto the freshly dug ground. Behind him, a bearded man with long dark hair wears a rust-red robe and a long brown beaded mala, standing near a line of saffron-robed attendants. Two large decorative umbrellas, one gold-brown and one red with gold embroidery, are held over the group, with a green and red umbrella at the left edge. A man in white ritual dress with a shawl stands with folded hands, and another elderly man in white stands at right. Several saffron-clad devotees and one attendant with a white shawl and red beads stand around the gathering.2017-02-02 +1 copiesFebruary 02 20172017-02-02 +1 copies
