September 29 20062006-09-29Photograph of a tall copper dhwaja (flagstaff) rising diagonally against a pale blue sky, its top fitted with a carved copper finial and a green-and-white leafy bundle. Ropes run up the pole for hoisting. Lower on the pole, a tiered copper base carries carved figures, decorated with fern and dry grass bundles and garlands. A saffron-orange flag hangs beside the pole with a white cloth tied at its base, marking a flag-hoisting ceremony at the temple. Three people stand at the lower edge of the frame: a man in white on the left, a bare-backed man in an orange cloth with long dark hair in the centre, and a man in an orange shawl with a rudraksha mala on the right, all looking upward at the pole.2006-12-23January 02 20102010-01-02 +1 copiesOutdoor photograph of a dwajarohanam flag-hoisting at a tall copper-coloured flagstaff decorated with carved panels and a red-and-maroon pennant topped with a yellow marigold garland and green leaves.
