A photograph of a temple gopuram rising above a row of palm and broadleaf trees beside a large still water tank. Small shrine pavilions with red and cream walls and pointed roofs stand along the tank's edge, and a striped red, white and yellow barrier runs along the road in the foreground. The sky is pale and hazy. No people are visible in the scene.

A photograph of a temple complex across a still tank of green water in Kanchipuram. Several tall gopuram towers with tiered sculpted tops rise behind white and yellow walls, and a small ornate stone pavilion with pillars stands on the water's edge in the foreground. A single small figure is seen in the water near the centre-left, and two seated statues sit on the far wall. Clear sky above; no ritual activity is visible.

A photograph of a temple complex beside a broad greenish water tank in Tamil Nadu. A gopuram-style tower with tiered roofs rises above palm and shade trees, flanked by smaller red-and-cream shrine structures along the stone-walled bank. In the foreground a man in a white shirt and white dhoti rides a bicycle along the tank edge, with dry reeds and a white vehicle at the right edge of the frame.

A photograph of a temple tank, a rectangular body of green water bordered by low red-and-white walls and small red shrine pavilions with pale pyramidal roofs. Beyond the water stands a tall gopuram-style temple tower with a golden-toned spire rising above dense green trees and palms under a pale hazy sky. In the foreground, dry grass stalks lie along the edge of a roadside curb, and the blurred back of a motorcycle rider appears at the lower left. No people are clearly visible standing in the scene.

A wide daytime view of a large still temple tank with turquoise-green water under a pale sky. A small white and blue shrine pavilion with a tiered spire stands in the middle of the water on pillars. Along the far bank are rows of low tiled-roof houses in white, blue and pink, with palm trees behind them. On the right, a stone-paved embankment steps lead down to the water, where a few people in light clothing stand near the edge.

A photograph of a large rectangular temple tank with still grey water under a heavily overcast sky. Stone steps descend into the water on the right, and a low stone parapet runs along the foreground. Across the tank stand low cream and red-roofed temple halls, a small shrine structure, and a tall, multi-tiered gopuram tower on the right, flanked by palm trees. No people are visible.
