December 02 20162016-12-02 +1 copiesPhotograph of a large black stone Shiva lingam with three horizontal white bands and a silver disc, draped with a garland of marigolds, red and yellow flowers, standing on a dark stone yoni-pitha base. Three shaved, bare-chested men in saffron-orange dhotis stand on a metal scaffold at the top of the lingam, one working on it. Below, a seated statue in a gold-framed throne with a tiger-skin cloth and red cushions depicts a figure with a pink turban and rudraksha garland, a depiction rather than a physical person. Several saffron-clad attendants move about the base beside gold arches, and a striped cloth covers the platform. A red multi-storey building stands behind.2017-07-31March 07 20162016-03-07December 27 20132013-12-27A large black stone Shiva lingam stands on a circular yoni-pitha base wrapped in bands of marigolds and multicoloured flower garlands, with water pouring from the spout onto the ground. Behind it, a raised platform holds a seated woman in a red garland and gold necklace beside monks in saffron and orange robes, one of them bare-chested with a shawl. Below, seated figures in red and orange robes sit on steps under orange and red ceremonial umbrellas, and a large crowd of men in white dhotis and shirts stands behind a metal fence, many with hands joined in prayer. Red banners and tassels hang overhead. This is a rudrabhishekam abhishekam of the lingam during a celebration.2013-12-27December 07 20162016-12-07December 02 20162016-12-02December 02 20162016-12-02February 27 20142014-02-27A large dark stone Shiva lingam is draped with a thick garland of marigolds and multicoloured flowers in yellow, orange, purple, green and white, with a flower-garland border around its face and a silver-banded ornament across its middle. Its base is wrapped in a fringed garland skirt of orange, yellow and white blossoms. On a metal scaffold to the left, several men in saffron and orange robes stand and kneel, and a figure in a red-orange garment with a headband raises a conch-like object near the top of the lingam. A pale sky and a concrete wall with strings of lights sit behind.2015-02-17 +1 copiesJuly 17 20172017-07-17December 03 20162016-12-03
