Striped red and white tented pavilions and canopies line the background, with a white building at right and trees beyond. Several women stand in the foreground, one in a white sari with a red-bordered blouse at right, another in a green-patterned sari at left. Children are scattered among the crowd, and a few people carry bags. The scene appears to be a large gathering or outdoor event at a ground near tents.2007-07-29Outdoor photo on a dry dirt ground with scattered trees and a small building edge at right. A man in white kurta and white dhoti walks barefoot across a shallow pit filled with glowing embers, his arms held down at his sides. Along the pit's edges, a crowd of devotees dressed in white, many women in white saris with golden borders, watch and reach toward him. A young woman in white salwar kameez on the left holds a long black conch-shaped horn. Dusty red earth, sunlight and orange-tinged water at the pit's base complete the scene.2008-12-31
