A hand holding a large brass vessel pours a golden-yellow liquid over a dark black Shiva lingam set on a stepped base. Behind it, a deity murti wears a garland of red and white flowers and ornate jewelled adornments. Two bare feet in the foreground rest on orange cloth and beside a blue and gold silk garment, with a red and gold border, and a decorated sandal. Liquid drips down the lingam onto the base.2013-06-13March 04 20192019-03-04March 04 20192019-03-04March 04 20192019-03-04A dark black stone lingam, the Shiva linga, is being bathed with a golden-yellow liquid poured from a brass vessel held by a priest's hand at upper left, with the stream running down the lingam and pooling at its base. The priest's forearm shows white ash markings. Behind the lingam sits a deity murti draped in a teal and gold brocade cloth, with decorative jewelled adornments, white jasmine garlands and red flower garlands. A reddish-orange and gold fabric is visible at left, and a brass plate stands at the far left. The scene reads as an abhishekam ritual bathing the linga. No person is identified as a person.2013-06-25 +1 copiesFebruary 19 20152015-02-19 +1 copiesFebruary 17 20152015-02-17 +1 copiesClose photograph of a ritual abhishekam on a green-coated stone lingam, with a yellow liquid being poured down its textured surface from a brass vessel held by a hand wearing gold-toned bangles. Behind it, a person in a rose and gold brocade garment with beaded and jewelled shoulder ornaments is partly visible, along with a golden embellished item. The setting suggests a temple ritual, consistent with the page's mention of a Nithyanandeshwara Swayambu Abhishekam, though no clear person's face or full body is shown.2017-02-24A photograph of an abhishekam being performed on a small metal murti of Lord Murugan standing with a spear (vel) in one hand and a rooster-flag. A person in a red sari pours thick yellow liquid from a large silver vessel over the figure, which is coated in the yellow substance. The yellow liquid flows over a golden-yellow platform in the foreground, with a glimpse of ornate gold-toned carved railing at right. Bangles are visible on the pouring arm; no face of the person is shown.2011-11-01March 04 20192019-03-04
