November 30 20162016-11-30November 30 20162016-11-30A photograph of a village street scene during flood relief work. A crowd of about a dozen men stands and sits on a concrete road in front of a yellow-walled building with a barred window. In the foreground an older man in a white shirt and white dhoti turns toward the camera, and a grey-haired man on the left wears a striped green and white cloth over his shoulder. Several men wear white shirts, checked lungis and yellow or orange towels, and a seated man in a red checked shirt rests on a concrete ledge. Two young people in blue striped shirts sit at the lower right, one leaning forward. Corrugated sheets and a damaged shed are visible behind them. No a person candidate is clearly visible.October 11 20092009-10-11October 02 20092009-10-02A crowded village street scene in daylight. A shaved-headed man in a white dhoti and a white sleeveless top, wearing a long rudraksha mala, stands in the foreground with head bowed, surrounded by a dense crowd of mostly men and boys. Behind him a white vehicle with a roof rack is hemmed in by people. A man in white shirt and trousers stands near the centre, a boy in a red shirt is at right, and an older woman in a green sari and a woman holding a small child are near a dark wooden doorway of a whitewashed building. A red-tiled roof, brick wall and hanging laundry form the background. The image is a photograph; the shaved-headed man in white shows no distinctive presentation cues beyond the mala, so identity is uncertain.2012-01-03June 24 20142014-06-24October 02 20092009-10-02Outdoor street scene during a ratha procession on a paved roadside with sandy shoulder. A crowd of men stands in groups, many in brown shirts and dark blue or purple shirts with trousers, some in white shirts and lungis. A man in white shirt and white dhoti stands near the centre-right. At right, part of a decorated ratha or palanquin with gold-coloured carved wood is visible. Behind, a gate and white walls sit beneath a large tree, with banana-leaf and striped multicoloured canopy decorations over the procession area.2006-10-24A dense crowd of men gathers outdoors along a street lined with palm trees and a tiled-roof building, a yellow van at right. Most wear white dhotis and shirts, others wear light blue, pink or checked shirts. Two shaved-headed young men in front wear saffron-orange cloths and white upper garments, one with a tilak marking on his forehead and a beaded necklace. Men in the foreground push forward and raise hands. A man in a white shirt stands at right. Several people on a raised platform or wall are visible at top left. No readable text is visible in the scene.2014-07-01A dense crowd of men and women presses around a doorway of a rustic village house with a thatched palm-leaf roof and a green painted wall. A bald man in white clothing stands near the centre of the crowd, and a man in an orange-red turban with a green leaf decoration stands behind him. Many hands reach toward them, and several men wear white shirts while others wear blue. Sunlight filters through leaves overhead, creating dappled light across the scene.2014-07-03July 01 20142014-07-01
