A photograph of a ritual scene at an indoor event. In the centre, a bald, bare-chested older man bows forward with his head lowered and his hands folded, wearing a white dhoti, a red and white flower garland, and a rudraksha mala around his neck; a small white bandage shows on his forehead. Two women with long dark hair, one in a pale pink and white flower garland and an orange garment, the other in purple, sit in the foreground facing him. Behind them a man with a tilak and orange headband wears rudraksha beads and a white cloth. A yellow kalasha-like pillar with yellow flower garlands and red cushions appears in the background, with other people in pink and blue saris seated behind. The scene suggests a blessing or initiation ceremony.2016-12-05A photograph of a ritual blessing in a hall. In the centre, a bald, bare-chested man in white dhoti with red and rudraksha malas is seated while a woman in an orange-and-gold sari, wearing a pink and white floral garland and gold bangles, presses her hand to his head. A long, bronze-coloured cloth and a flower garland are visible. A man in the background wears an orange headband and a rudraksha mala. Behind them, yellow marigold garlands drape a golden structure and several devotees in saffron, purple and pink stand in the background. Red flowers and brass offerings lie nearby. The gathering suggests a darshan or initiation blessing; the central figure's appearance does not clearly establish that he is a person.2016-12-05December 06 20162016-12-06 +1 copiesMay 28 20172017-05-28A photograph of an outdoor ritual at dusk in front of a red multi-storey building.
