Evening ritual in an open-sided pavilion at night. A long-haired figure with dreadlock-style locks wearing an orange blouse, leopard-print cloth and gold armlets sits on a red throne-like seat, with a pink and white garland around the neck, facing a kneeling bare-chested devotee in white dhoti with white forehead markings who bows forward with hands joined. Behind them, a white-clothed priest and other people stand under strings of multicoloured lights and yellow banana-leaf decorations. A fire pit with burning flames and smoke sits in front right, flanked by brass vessels, marigold garlands and flower offerings. A colourful deity shrine and decorated pillars appear in the background. The scene resembles a fire-offering or blessing rite.2016-12-05December 05 20162016-12-05Night-time ritual at an outdoor temple-style shrine decorated with strings of coloured lights, banana leaves and marigold garlands. A man in a white dhoti kneels on a red carpet before a seated figure in saffron and gold, who holds a plate of offerings and marks him with ash. Beside them a bare-chested man in white dhoti stands with palms joined, and other devotees in white and yellow sit or stand near a fire pit with flames and smoke, with flower-decorated vessels nearby. A seated figure in a leopard-print cloth and golden armbands is prominent at left. Around eight to ten people are visible in total.2016-12-05December 07 20162016-12-07Night-time homa at an open pavilion. In the foreground, a shirtless priest in white dhoti with a gold-bordered yellow cloth and a red tilak sits cross-legged before a wooden fire altar, holding a ladle over the fire. Beside him, other priests in white and saffron-orange cloths sit on mats. Smoke rises from the fire pit, which holds brass vessels, lit oil lamps, rice offerings and red flower petals. To the right, a figure with a red-and-orange turban, a long rudraksha mala and a brown-and-red robe sits on an ornate gold-and-red throne. Behind him, a screen shows a colourful image. Strings of lamps hang overhead, and deity murtis draped in garlands stand at the left.2016-12-07April 14 20182018-04-14 +1 copiesApril 28 20172017-04-28Night outdoor ritual before a decorated shrine with a large deity murti garlanded in red and orange flowers, and a fire pit burning in front of it. Priests in white dhotis perform the homa while a bare-chested priest in ochre cloth tends the offering. On the right, a man with a red-orange turban and saffron-red shawl sits on an ornate gold-and-red throne beneath a yellow and multicolour canopy; a cameraman and a white-clad attendant stand nearby. A large crowd of devotees sits on the red-carpeted ground, some in white and pink saris, and a brass oil lamp stands at the front. Swamiji (probable) is seated on the throne wearing the turban and shawl.2016-12-07July 16 20152015-07-16December 05 20162016-12-05Outdoor evening gathering under floodlights, with a crowd of devotees behind a barrier. A seated figure on a gold-and-red throne (peetha) with a cushion is surrounded by yellow and orange marigold garlands and red flowers. He wears a white turban, a leopard-print shawl over a white garment, and a long garland, and is smiling broadly. Devotees in white kurtas and an orange-clad man with a shawl stand close, and a person in white kneels and bows near the throne. A tray of coins, nuts and a coconut sits on the dais. A man in white with a rudraksha mala stands at left. The seated figure matches the page's Swamiji candidate by visible cues: turban, long swept-back hair and ornate garland, with clothing and adornment consistent with the cues, so he is labelled Swamiji (probable) and marked in_person.2010-12-29April 14 20182018-04-14
