In the centre, a seated man in a maroon-red robe and a matching red turban sits on a gold-and-red throne (peetha) with a gold lion-headed armrest, folding his hands in namaste. A ceremonial rudraksha-style garland of red beads hangs on his chest. In the foreground, a bald priest in orange-brown robes with a bare upper body and a wooden bead mala stands with a silver ceremonial implement and a small lamp, tilting a vessel toward a silver lamp. Silver trident-topped staffs (trishula) stand on either side, and a gold ornate canopy and flower garlands in yellow and purple decorate the throne. Several devotees in white, some with garlands, sit along the right edge.2015-10-21 +1 copiesA seated figure with long swept-back dark hair, wearing a rust-orange robe, a gold-bordered orange dhoti and a red-orange rudraksha mala, sits with palms pressed together in prayer on an ornate gold throne with a gold canopy and hanging brass bells. A attendant in orange robes stands at left holding a silver plate with a lit flame, performing aarti. The throne has a striped tiger-skin style cushion and an orange-gold backdrop. A seated man in a maroon-brown robe with a red-and-white tilak sits on an ornate gold throne with a carved cobra hood and red cushions, his bare feet resting on a mat. A standing attendant in an orange turban and orange dhoti, bare-backed and wearing a red shawl, faces him and touches the seated man's arm, while the seated man reaches toward him. Striped multicoloured cloth covers the floor, with white flowers scattered near the throne. In the foreground a yellow-bordered fire pit burns with flames, and nearby are a kalasha-style pot wrapped in cloth, a brass vessel, and a small offering vessel. A deity murti is not visible. The scene suggests a homa or initiation rite.2018-01-13A photograph of a ritual at a gold-and-silver throne setting. A devotee in saffron-orange dhoti and shawl, bare-chested with a rudraksha-style necklace, holds a lit aarti lamp with a flame toward a seated figure. The seated man wears a rust-red turban, rust-red robes, a large gold pendant and beaded necklaces, and has his palms joined in a namaste gesture. He sits on a leopard-print cushion beside a silver lion sculpture. Behind them is a gold deity murti with arms folded, a backdrop of yellow, red and white garlands, and a magenta cloth. Small offerings, a lamp and a flower-strewn floor appear in front.2017-12-01A photograph of a ceremonial courtyard session. A bearded man with long hair and a white tilak on his forehead sits on an ornate gold throne with a red cushion, bare-chested and draped in a saffron-orange cloth, palms extended over a small flame. Seated on the red floor mat before him, another man in an orange-brown head turban and saffron wrap holds a silver lamp with a lit oil flame and a spoon, with rudraksha-style beaded necklaces and bangles. Red floral petals lie on the mat and bundles of offerings rest in the lower right corner. The scene suggests a fire-lamp offering ritual.2018-05-29
