In the foreground a bare-backed priest in a rust-red dhoti with gold-bordered cloth over the shoulder and a rudraksha mala around his neck waves a lit oil lamp toward a deity murti. The deity sits on a gilded throne and is heavily decorated with gold jewellery, a crown, layered garlands of white, yellow, orange and purple flowers, and a green cloth draped over the seat. A gold-painted elephant base supports the throne. A striped white and red wall and a hanging decorative tassel frame the scene, and a person stands at the right edge in the dark. This appears to be an aarti offering rather than a depiction of a particular individual.2014-11-23
