He wears a long rudraksha mala with gold spacer beads around his neck and a white vertical tilak with a red dot on his forehead, and holds a thin reed or grass strand in his hands. Behind him, other children in orange robes sit in a row, and pink flower petals and yellow marigolds are scattered on a colourful striped cloth. The setting suggests a ritual or initiation gathering.2013-10-13April 06 20132013-04-06 +1 copiesA young boy with a shaved head and white-and-red forehead markings sits cross-legged in a saffron-orange monastic robe with a reddish-brown shawl, wearing a rudraksha mala and a small pendant. He raises a lit oil lamp in his right hand while holding a brass cup or bowl in his left, gazing upward. A second brass lamp flame appears behind him and a person in orange sits at right. Brass vessels, a flower garland and offerings lie in the foreground beneath a white cloth canopy hung with colourful striped pillars with yellow tassels. This appears to be a ritual lamp offering during a gathering.2013-03-31
