Many small wooden boats with green and teal canopies are moored along the banks, and one brightly painted boat with a pink canopy floats in the foreground. Vendors' stalls with colourful tarpaulins in green, yellow and orange line the steps and hillside. Several people walk or stand on the steps, and a white-domed shrine sits on the hill at upper left beside multi-storey buildings in peach and yellow. The scene resembles a sacred river bathing place.2016-06-03May 13 20142014-05-13June 02 20162016-06-02June 01 20162016-06-01Elevated view of a crowded riverside ghat in Varanasi beside the Ganges. A large steel truss bridge with red-brown piers crosses the water on the right. Several small wooden boats and a rust-coloured barge sit near the bank, and a tiny group of people is visible in one boat in the middle distance. A yellow hoarding stands among the buildings on the shore. Hazy pale blue sky above.2006-01-06A busy riverside ghat along the Ganga in Varanasi on a hazy morning. Rows of wooden and painted boats line the water at left. Crowds of people walk and sit on stone steps beneath many open umbrellas in pink, orange, yellow and green. A man in a blue shirt sits on a stone platform, and a figure in orange robes stands near laid-out saffron and patterned cloths drying on the ledge. Temple spires with red and white shikhara towers rise behind the tiered buildings on the right, and a vendor stall stands at the centre.2015-10-02
