The figure, with long dark hair swept back, holds a brass bell in one hand and a flaming camphor aarti lamp in the other, eyes lowered. Beside them an attendant in orange dhoti and saffron top with white tilak presses palms together. Other devotees in orange and rust robes stand behind, and a man in a white shirt and beige trousers stands at right. Brass vessels and a bright flame mark an aarti ritual.2013-05-17Close photograph of an aarti ritual. In the foreground, a bare-chested man in profile with a gold-coloured headwear and a beaded necklace holds a brass aarti plate with several lit oil lamps, their flames large and bright, with scattered flower petals on the tray. The background is draped in orange and yellow fabric.2010-01-30A dimly lit temple scene during an aarti: a shaved-headed priest in a dark garment holds a brass multi-flame oil lamp with several bright flames toward the viewer, his face partly hidden behind the lamp. A second figure in a white dhoti with a gold-bordered shawl stands at right, also holding a lamp. Garlands of yellow-green and red flowers hang on a decorated pillar or deity stand at left, with blurred background ornaments.2016-12-07October 05 20132013-10-05October 12 20152015-10-12August 17 20142014-08-17A photograph of a temple ritual with an oil lamp flame. A man in a maroon-brown turban with a crescent ornament and a large multicoloured flower garland holds a lit lamp in cupped hands, his head bowed. Beside him a second person in an orange saffron cloth, with hair in a bun and white sacred ash marks on the arm, holds a flame. Carved dark wooden pillars frame the scene, with smoke haze in the air. The dim setting suggests a puja or aarti.2017-12-02
